The Levels of Awareness

Description

I wanted to try out painting for the second time, and I did this. It's supposed to be all levels of consciousness and the world... with symbolism in between. Tell me what you think you see in it?
I'm not very good at painting... so please give advice. Used acrylic paints.

I will do my best to provide a meaningful analysis, however limited I may be my own incapacity to paint and lack of understanding of consciousness.  I like what's going on with the purple things under the bottom left petal of the the pink flower in the corner.  I suppose they are grapes, but with the other bluish and purple swirls I see around the rest of the painting (the top ones, I discern, are planets), I can't help but think they are meant to symbolize a dream state.  Perhaps I played the Tak games too much, as the dream realms there, as I recall, had lots of swirls there.
I notice that the wings of the dragonfly separate the maroon sky from the magenta-purple space.  Seeing as purple is the favorite color of lofty intellectuals like Sir Isaac Newton, and maroon is close to the color of scarlet blood, I deduce that this must symbolize that biology (as symbolized by the green dragonfly interested in the pitcher plant) is the key to going from basic human understanding and logic (the maroon) to highest intelligence.
Below the maroon I see a layer of a dismal shade of blue which stands contrastingly with the verdant layer beneath it.  Beneath the green there are earthy landscapes and organisms, which to me symbolize simplicity.  When we try to reach to higher levels of intelligence, things can get dismal and look utterly futile, and sometimes we think nihilistically.  That's why there's nothing else but the blue in the dark patch.
Strangely, there are no bodies of water accompanying the organisms, but there is a rainbow, a phenomenon not possible without water.  Since the bands of colors are pristine and there's a crab in this world where there does appear to be any water for them to actually exist in, I suggest these symbolize idealism/utopian thought in consciousness.  Directly beside the crab, though, is what appears to be some sort of dried-out skull.  Perhaps this is a symbol of conscious realism that often juxtaposes, as it does in the painting, idealistic thoughts.
As I am not a botanist or very well acquainted with plants, I cannot discern the meaning of the plants, although the dragonfly is obviously being tempted by the pitcher plant.  Perhaps, then, this an illustration of the power those with strong wills or cleverness over those with weak ones or gullibility.

I know this a little bit thorough, and I can't really give you any painting advice because I really have no skill the art, but I do thoroughly enjoy this piece and had a blast examining it for your symbolism (however inaccurate understanding I may actually have of it).
